In this episode, we wrap up our time with As You Like It by watching three different productions on film and discuss what we found effective (or not). We start off with the 2006 film adaptation of Shakespeare’s play, directed by Kenneth Branagh and featuring a star-studded cast. Then, we review two filmed stage productions: the 2019 Royal Shakespeare Company production directed by Kimberly Sykes which puts the action of the play in a modern setting, and the 2009 Shakespeare's Globe production, directed by Thea Sharrock. As we discuss each of these productions, we will examine how their production choices illuminate the themes and story of Shakespeare's play.
